Discrete Feedback Systems 1.

Classical Control

Sampled data control systems with Dead beat response

In case of a continuous time controlled process, the output c(t) is a function of time t and the dead beat response design, based on cancellation of stable poles and zeros, may lead to inter-sampling ripples. Since the process zeros are canceled by controller poles, the continuous dynamics are excited by the input and are not affected by feedback. Thus, the strategy of designing dead beat response for a sampled data system is not to cancel the zeros, whether they are inside or outside the unit circle.

The aim of the book is to provide a well-rounded exposure to analysis, control and simulation of discrete-time systems. Theoretical techniques for studying discrete-time linear systems with particular emphasis on the properties and design of sampled data feedback control systems are introduced. This book is intended to be used as a textbook in our MSc and PhD courses. We have tried to balance the broadness and the depth of the material covered in the book. The interested reader is also sent to consult the publications of the references list.
