Glandular epithelium (epithelium glandulare)

Cells in this type of epithelium are specialized for secretion. A gland can be multicellular, but there are also unicellular glands, which consist of single cell surrounded by other nonsecretory cells. The most typical example for such a cell is the goblet cell. Goblet cells (Figure 51.) are mucus secreting cells located in the surface lining of intestines and of certain parts of respiratory tract.
