Distance standardization

In cluster analysis, it is common to investigate variables with different units and order of magnitudes, which can affect the classification process. It would be unreasonable, for example, to compare the absolute values of a distance-like factor (kilometre) and a weight-like factor (kilogram). To avoid the dependency of measurement units, standardization is proposed to be used. To standardize the values of the different variables, the following transformation method is used (equation 194).
