The literature review identified a number of aspects of housing-related parental support where empirical data are scant or contradictory, and therefore further empirical examination is needed. Not only is the extent of parental support after the regime change little known, but the knowledge about its structure and determinants, and the direction and pace of its change, is also ambiguous. For this reason, the first aim of the current inquiry is to trace trends in the development of the extent and structure of housing-related parental support in the different periods of housing system formation more precisely. Secondly, the analysis seeks to provide new empirical insights on the microdeterminants of parental support in order to evaluate them in light of findings of the international literature.
