Mi az oka annak, hogy annyi fiatal választja ma az orvosi hivatást? Elsősorban a pénz, vagy az embereken való segítés vágya tereli őket a szakma felé? Milyen problémákkal szembesülnek az orvosegyetemi évek alatt, és mi várja őket az egészségügyben? Létezik-e nőies és férfias orvoslás? Hogyan befolyásolják a gyógyítók munkáját és a páciensek helyzetét a napjainkban zajló radikális változások, a legújabb digitális és mobil eszközök, a modern kezelési eljárások?Ma már több orvosnő végez és praktizál Magyarországon, mint férfi orvos – milyen társadalmi következményekkel jár ez, és miként befolyásolja az orvos–beteg kapcsolatot? Törvényszerű-e, hogy kiégjenek az orvosok, és milyen módon lehet küzdeni ellene? Hogyan próbálják összeegyeztetni családi szerepeiket és karrierjüket a hazai orvosnők? Miért vannak speciális helyzetben az orvos-házaspárok?És végül, de nem utolsósorban: mit jelent a „magyarországi orvosnő-paradoxon”?

Az Orvosnők Magyarországon hiánypótló összegzés: három és fél évtizede nem vizsgálták átfogóan a hazai orvosok helyzetét. A kötet alapjául több, már az ezredforduló után készített országos reprezentatív kutatás szolgált, emellett orvostanhallgatókkal és gyakorló orvosokkal felvett interjúk egészítették ki a képet. A gyógyítók testi-lelki egészségének feltérképezése mellett a könyv részletesen elemzi az orvosnők helyzetét, akiknek jelentős része – „szupernőként” próbál egyszerre a legmagasabb színvonalon helytállni hivatásában és a magánéletben egyaránt.
