11. Scope for Future Research

Further research and less limited case studies are recommended to support the validity of the categorisation applied in the paper. After conducting studies on a larger scale, it would be useful to attempt to set a number that marks the border between significant and insignificant deviation from the neutral towards either end of the scale, enabling a rather exact way to measure trends of foreignising or domestication. Furthermore, the present study provides firm grounds for analyses investigating both research on comparing trends between AVT of English movies into smaller languages and films from smaller languages into English and inspecting the potential change of trends over time in either direction. It would be interesting to see if the tendencies found in the present paper could also apply in the case of other language pairs, including other great languages, like Spanish, French, or even Chinese. Also, the potential recurring differences between subtitling and dubbing would be an intriguing question to investigate.

We hope that in the future, the theories presented in this paper will be confirmed on a larger scale as well.
