Innovation and excellence

Management methods for innovation transformation

Developer workshops

Developer workshops moderated by area managers and senior engineers are effective. An important starting point for development ideas and projects is for managers to present, explain and discuss with their colleagues the production targets set for the given area, which require some kind of innovation or change to achieve. Understanding the goals and the corporate culture encourages action. Managers play an important role and help employees to think together. They typically moderate one- to two-hour guided workshops, during which they present development goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) and discuss problems that have arisen and possible solutions with employees in the area. Such discussions also serve as a basis for more significant, radical developments, but the general expectation is that each development should bring at least 10% to the plan. The principle of transparency also applies to the setting of bonuses. Efficiency targets (target agreements) are broken down to the individual level, and everyone reports regularly to their manager on their fulfilment.
