Innovation and excellence

Management methods for innovation transformation

The importance of user innovations

Approximately 80% of the developments implemented within the framework of the idea management system are related to the production environment and, to a large extent, to production lines in the form of equipment and machine optimisation. In addition to development proposals related to ergonomics and environmental management, dozens of user innovations are created and implemented each year. One example is the creation of a special grade of sandpaper that is not commercially available, which was developed in collaboration with the manufacturer based on the needs of the paint shop. The company uses the product innovation created during the joint development and co-creation process, but the manufacturer can only sell it with the Audi logo. In the case of this type of development, Audi Hungaria carries out the development jointly with the supplier company and has a fundamental interest in its success, so it does not charge its partner a fee. User innovations are particularly prevalent among engineers involved in maintenance and quality management, who immediately notice when a machine or piece of equipment is not delivering the expected quality or production volume. They take great pride and satisfaction in working with their partners to devise and implement better solutions that save the company money.
The production and manufacturing environment itself also induces numerous innovations, as the production line designed on the drawing board rarely produces parts of the desired quality. Those involved in production startup and production play a key role in achieving the expected results during mass production by incorporating their innovative solutions into special-purpose machines and production lines.
