Innovation and excellence

Management methods for innovation transformation

"Top innovators"

In a company employing thousands of people, it is not surprising that there are those who formulate and implement dozens of valuable development proposals every year. We consider them to be "top innovators". According to Audi Hungaria's head of idea management, it is important to note that these top innovators are generally expected to continuously come up with new development proposals. Experience shows that this pressure leads to burnout and a decline in their motivation and commitment. It is advisable to give them time and wait until these excellent innovators find themselves again. If the pressure to innovate comes too early or is constant, it can often lead to fatigue and then apathy. This is an important message for both large company managers and small or medium-sized business owners, where, compared to large companies, much less is expected from just one or two people in terms of continuous and radical renewal, and they are surprised when this does not happen. This is why it is important to give special attention to top innovators and to treat expectations of them in a unique way.
Various thematic campaigns and special challenges, such as environmental management innovations and water-saving opportunities, can significantly increase the number of ideas submitted to the system. Employees typically submit more ideas for solving focused corporate problems than they would during normal business operations. At the same time, it is advisable to prepare the themes of these campaigns well and to vary them so that employees actually think about solutions that were not previously known.
