Innovation and excellence

Management methods for innovation transformation

The role of customer interactions

Customer focus, personal visits to suppliers and communication with them are the source of numerous development proposals. There are ad hoc and regular meetings with suppliers and customers within the group, the so-called internal customers. The company devotes a great deal of attention and financial resources to understanding their needs, for example by financing personal consultations and workshops. However, a lot of manufacturing costs can also be saved if the parts to be installed are delivered with minor modifications (e.g. different tolerances, hole patterns). Before doing so, it is necessary to discuss with suppliers and partners how a more rational solution can be found at the design stage. These discussions and modifications are supported by an IT system that records the parameters of the component in question and the minutes of the related negotiations. This requires a complex mindset and excellent communication skills from employees in the given field, and the company encourages and provides them with opportunities to develop communication skills. There are also special training courses, e.g. goal orientation, partner management, which are specifically aimed at improving their understanding of customer needs.
