Management methods for innovation transformation

Bosch's "grow platform", an international incubation programme

The Bosch Group, which employs more than 76,000 researchers and developers in 60 countries around the world, has its own internal incubation platform, which collects innovation proposals from employees around the world through eight so-called global innovation hubs. The aim of the platform is to discover radical innovations that fit the group's global strategy and to support developments right through to market launch. Between 10 and 12 innovative ideas are incubated at any one time.
The "grow platform" provides everything that internal Bosch startup teams need. Their services cover the following areas:
  • defining and implementing business models and strategies;
  • building and mentoring high-performance teams: helping to find and select team members and develop the teams' strategic planning skills, agile methods and collaboration skills;
  • brand development, marketing, developing global market entry and sales strategies, providing ongoing support to teams in implementing strategies, and measuring results using predefined metrics;
  • supporting financial, invoicing and payment processes, assisting with financial planning and corporate reporting;
  • support in compliance, risk management and legal issues, tax and patent advice, and assistance with intellectual property (IP) protection and portfolio management;
  • Lean management, procurement and quality assurance, supporting the team to bring a viable prototype (MVP) to market that complies with legal and quality requirements;
  • quick access to Bosch's cutting-edge technologies and research results through network connections, as well as assistance with their application and integration into new solutions;
  • provision of collaboration and co-working spaces for all internal development teams so that they can achieve their goals in an inspiring development environment.
