Management methods for innovation transformation

The need for diversification

They are trying to continuously develop, serve other sectors and diversify with the income generated from tool design and manufacturing. To this end, they take an open view of the world, trying to identify key trends and opportunities for higher-profit businesses that offer higher returns and results. They try to think like both company managers and investors, taking on activities outside their core business.
MouldTech Systems strives to serve multiple industries and seize opportunities for diversification. The idea of manufacturing helmets for use in healthcare during the pandemic came about through consultation with key users and lead users within their own circle of acquaintances. They used their metal printing machines to print injection moulding tools and, in just 10 days, they were able to start large-scale production. Within two weeks, they had delivered 2,500 units to the Hungarian healthcare system. An article was even written about this in Israel, which gave further impetus to the manufacture of other healthcare products. This led to the opportunity to design and manufacture infusion and ventilator stands for use in hospitals (see Figure 16). The first step was to print a model and validate the prototype at their technology centre to ensure compliance with strict standards. The development, including measurements and the approval process, took less than a month. The first stands were delivered to the Hungarian healthcare system within another month, followed by several thousand more. These stands have been widely used in Hungarian hospitals ever since.
