The maximum flow problem

In the next chapter the maximum flow problem is discussed. Let us consider a network with directed arcs. In this problem, it is assumed that there is a source node from which the flows start, and a sink to which the flows arrive. Now the objective of the problem is to transport as great an amount of flows as possible from the source node to the sink node. The Ford–Fulkerson method is the adequate tool to determine the maximum value of flows between the given origin and destination nodes.
