The cell
The cell is the smallest living organism capable of independent existence and of the construction of multicellular organisms as well. There are two fundamentally distinct kinds of cells (see on chapter I.2), the prokaryotes whose nuclei are not surrounded by an outer membrane and the eukaryotes which have a well organized membrane-delimited nucleus.
