Management Consultancy in Central and Eastern Europe

Consultancy in a Global Context

Analyzing the Competitive Situation, Determining the Competitive Advantage

When developing a corporate strategy, the client may also consult with a consultant to determine the competitive advantage. Added value is what gives a company a competitive advantage, if it can deliver this added value in the long run, then it is the core capability of a company that can achieve outstanding performance. The consultants can assist their client by examining whether the client company has competitive advantages and what to do, and what strategy to follow to gain competitive advantage. The consultant can draw the client’s attention to the ways in which companies that are considered excellent have achieved their competitive advantage. He can point out factors that are specific to companies with competitive advantages (e.g., monitoring customer needs, measuring satisfaction, raising quality expectations for products and services, etc.). The consultant can help the client choose between the given options and which of the alternatives best suit the situation and characteristics of the company (e.g., technological capacity, business experience). Strategic projects focusing on competitive advantages also need to assess the extent and speed with which the customer is able to adapt to the changed situation and to continuously renew itself.
