Management Consultancy in Central and Eastern Europe

Consultancy in a Global Context

Contract Ethics

Of course, every consultant should consider the general ethical issues related to the contracts. However, there are some important aspects of the contract for the consulting profession. It may seem strange, but we must emphasize that without a contract it is not ethical, nor is it advisable to provide consultancy. Consultants can easily get into a situation where they start to use their knowledge based on personal trust, which is good, but can turn out bad if the relationship is not regulated by contract. If there is no contract, the consultant cannot ask for a fee. The users of consultancy are not subject to any rules, so it is not possible to set up an appropriately regulated consulting relationship and the responsibilities for the relationship remain unclear.
