Management Consultancy in Central and Eastern Europe

Consultancy in a Global Context

The Third Decade: Impact of Economic Crisis (2008–2009) on Consulting and New Trends of Recovery

The market of consulting services in a crisis is influenced by multidirectional factors. The economic scenario of 2008 in Russia was played out as follows: there was a sharp collapse in oil prices, and, as a result, the deviation of the national currency began. A significant factor was the reduced availability of external sources of financing under the conditions of strong dependence of the domestic economy on foreign capital. Until September 2008, demand for consultants grew steadily. However, the panic that gripped customers at the end of the year, impacted all the major consulting companies. More retained their necessity either through micro projects associated with the solution of local tasks, or macro projects for the creation of complex integrated systems that had been implemented in large holdings under the strategic efficiency programs.
