Management Consultancy in Central and Eastern Europe

Consultancy in a Global Context

Becoming an Expert

We have written in many places in this book about how to become a consultant today in CEE and in the world. There is no higher education in any country which, like other professions (e.g., engineering, economics, medicine, etc.), would lead to a full degree in this field. There are part-time courses (e.g., MSc in the field of management-organization consulting) in many countries, and in Hungary since 2008 at four universities (Pécs, Debrecen, Nyíregyháza and Gödöllő) several degrees have been awarded to students who graduated from Human Resource Management as consultants (Szretykó, 2012). In the German-speaking area, an MBA in Consulting can be obtained at the initiative of Professor Ms. Niedereichholz. It is also important to mention the Executive MBA for consulting and IT consulting launched by the Austrian IT and Consulting Association in September 2015 (WKO, 2015a). Today such a qualification can still be obtained during practical work and related qualifications (e.g., CMC).
