Taxation in General: Hungarian Tax System

VI. Chapter. Corporate tax: double taxation or the social expenditure of the enterprises

Corporate tax is a form of payment depending on the profitability of the operation of ventures. Its very existence already divides the experts of our days, who see it not as a profit tax, but as the taxation of an operating form. There are two main approaches. According to the integration approach represented by Musgrave, corporate tax is a tool used to incorporate corporate incomes into the basis of assessment of the personal income tax. According to the other, the so-called absolutist conception, the tax imposed on companies is separate from the personal income tax and operates as a new, independent, absolute tax type.
Milton Friedman, however, made openly subjective outbursts, not once against this withdrawal form, taxing incomes twice, which is absolutely harmful in his opinion.

The ratios, on the other hand, are less impressive: not only that the revenue from corporate tax did not increase, but just the opposite! If calculated at their nominal values, they have even decreased in the last 10 years. The primary reasons for this were the crisis in 2008 and the introduction of tax credits the goal of which was to increase competitiveness, or to loosen previous restrictions.

As it can be seen, the corporate tax does not play an important role in the budget. Despite of this, due to its subject and scope it exist in the crossfire of interest

Taxation is a scheme for the state to provide revenue. The so collected money could then cover the public spending of the government. These are the so-called allocative and redistributive functions of the state budget. Although, taxation theory discusses the various tax types and analyses the various taxation tools very extensively, there is no absolute answer to the question, when and what type of taxation system would be optimal. Thus this introductory book on taxation deals with the three basic types of taxes - the income tax, the VAT and the corporation tax - in a very pragmatic way. There are legal texts and cases from both the international and also from the relevant Hungarian practice.

This book is recommended not only for students of economics but also for law students and practitioners beside anyone who is interested in the basic regulations of taxation.
