Business Management

Starting up, Growth, Development

Key questions and tasks

K.2.1 If you have travelled to well known tourist destinations such as the Pyramids or the Taj Mahal, you will have noticed that local souvenir vendors typically try to negotiate prices with tourists. Over the course of a single week, try to negotiate the prices of products in shops by haggling and see what might happen. Corvinus students in the past have completed this task and have succeeded in negotiating the price of milk at supermarkets and the price of petrol. This task may seem unorthodox but the purpose is for you to understand that determination of prices should be agreed between buyers and sellers. The worst that can happen is that retaliers will say no to your request. You should ideally try to make at least ten requests for price negotiation and record your responses.
