As beliefs about translation are related to theoretical knowledge on translation and on translation processes, and to extensive experience with translating itself, beliefs about translation scores were expected to grow between the beginning and the end of the training programme. A paired samples t-test was performed to evaluate whether there was a difference between first-year and second-year “beliefs about translation” questionnaire scores. The results showed that for the total sample, end of training scores (M = 58.50, SD = 6.36) were significantly higher than first-year scores (M = 53.25, SD = 6.30), t(7) = –3.38, p≤ .05. The same pattern was found for human translators (M1 = 54.20, SD1 = 8.17, M2 = 60.80, SD2 = 6.61, t(4) = –4.21, p ≤ .05), but not for post-editors (M1 = 51.67, SD1 = 1.53, M2 = 54.67, SD2 = 4.04, t(2) = –0.93, p = .449). It must be noted, however, that the sample size was extremely small in the subgroups (5 and 3).
