Eukaryotes are distinguished by possession of a genome (the entire library of genetic information carried by an organism) consisting of chromosomes. Chromosomes are complex beaded structures, consisting of nucleosomes, which themselves are subunits of chromatin fibers, which in turn are folded into structures of increasingly higher order of packing and folding.
