The current micro-research is not without its limitations; however, it also presents various opportunities for expansion and further exploration. The present study only includes limited number of participants from the small city of Veszprém in Hungary. Future research could include a larger and more diverse group of L2 learners from various regions across Hungary. A larger sample will help the researchers to include participants within different age range, gender and socio-economic status and refine and generalise their findings on L2 learners’ reading habits in Hungary. More detailed questionnaires should also be developed, which include questions on different types of media (e.g., TV, movies, and apps). Moreover, it is essential to incorporate a question in the future questionnaire that pertains to the participants’ present student status. Given the prevalence of correspondence and distance education, it is possible that there are university students over the age of 30 among the respondents. Moreover, the reading habits of L2 learners in their first and second language could be examined to identify the preferred language with the types of the reading materials and the reasons behind the choice. Longitudinal studies may also help investigate what factors are involved while reading preferences change through time. Moreover, mixed-method approaches should be adopted to investigate how language classes and schools are adapting to the evolving world of technology and what challenges language teachers, materials developers, and curriculum designers are struggling with to utilize social media in the contemporary language classrooms. L2 learners’ perceptions on the effectiveness of personalized learning activities and assignments in their language learning will also greatly add to this field of research.
