The details of this investigation are presented in chapter ten of this volume. The results related to the frequency of occurrence of ETDs, restarts and repetitions indicate that their occurrence is not a function of interpreting competence.

In the consecutively interpreted target language texts, when looking at ETDs, grammar errors were the most frequent, followed by false word and false start errors. These signal the malfunctions of grammatical planning and lexical access (Gyarmathy, 2015) during speech production in short section consecutive interpreting. When examined together with restarts and repetitions, a similarly consistent pattern emerged across stages in training and speech conditions: repetitions were the most frequent disfluencies, followed by grammar errors, with restarts ranking third. These results might have an impact on the acceptability and style and register evaluations of the target language texts, together with results related to cohesion, as very often function words are repeated. A key finding of the present monograph is that speech type seems to be a stronger factor determining the occurrence of disfluencies that expertise in interpreting.

An important finding is that, based on the results, it can be stated that problem triggers also result in disfluencies on the text surface, probably as a result of increased effort for recalling enumerations from memory, or for processing high information density sections.
