Traditionally, in an empirical study, results and their discussion are presented in separate chapters. However, in this research, the amount of quantitative data is so large that presenting it in one piece would overwhelm the reader. By the time they reached the Discussion section, they might struggle to retain the information or could be confused by the sheer magnitude of the data. To avoid this, the data was split up into three logical, thematic units. These units will be presented one after another, followed immediately by their Discussion. First, novices’ (first-year students’) test results and translation/post-editing performance will be presented, and relations between competence elements and performance will be analysed. This is followed by the second-year students’ results, and finally, the changes between the beginning and the end of the training will be described.
