During the last two years of curriculum development work, an electronic textbook called The Basics of Public Administration was prepared, as a tool to improve the quality of training. I did not write the lecture notes/textbook for students studying public administration professionally, but in the first place for bachelor students in political science and international studies. Therefore, I tried to avoid dry legal language, since the approach of the subject is not primarily legal, but rather political and sociological. The purpose of the lecture notes with an interdisciplinary approach is to introduce the reader to some basic questions related to public administration that are closely related to political science. This being so I do not deal with issues of administrative procedural law, for example (cases of the authorities), as this publication does not intend to compete with the excellent textbooks that prepare for the exams for the ones working in the public administration. The Administrative Studies for Geographers (Közigazgatási ismeretek geográfusoknak), my university notes for the Faculty of Natural Science of Eötvös Loránd University (1998), and later on my articles and studies published in the national scientific journal, called Comitatus Önkormányzati Szemle which is edited by me, moreover the articles and studies I have written and edited from the above mentioned publications (Agg, 2008, 2009, 2016) can be considered as the antecedent of this college textbook.
