The effects of the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic are generating verifiable changes in media use, which domestic and international research are reporting. According to statistics from the Nielsen Audience Survey, the epidemic has significantly increased the role of television in addition to the Internet and has changed the choice of content they offer. During the first wave of the virus, consumption of news programs increased compared to the usual trends, while in the summer and autumn months, series and movies received more attention. In the descriptive study, we include basic research that, in addition to the reorganization of the media market, also considers the consumption of media content by the teenage and adult populations. The most important research questions are what changes the coronavirus epidemic has generated in the last year, e.g., in the field of calls, SMS, and Internet traffic; and regarding the Hungarian television advertising market, which types of television and radio programs were the most popular, and how TV viewing habits developed under the influence of Covid. We hypothesize that research findings demonstrate that consumers adapted to changed living and working conditions during the pandemic through their media use, which, in turn, significantly contributed to the volume of instruction in higher education.
