The institutionalized literary scene of any society is a basic, very important factor of the political system, producing the literary life's elite with their own instruments. In the political systems of Eastern Europe in the second half of the 20th century, this elite was created under the motto of socialism and communism with autocratic instruments. Works could only be published under the control of censorship. This censorship also characterized the Romanian literature written in German in the seventies: besides self-censoring, authors also needed strategies and methods to make publishing their texts possible. The poems in the current study present examples of how the authors used these various strategies: While texts by Irene Mokka display introspection and withdrawing from the problems of the society, poems of the young generation of the new wave – the Aktionsgruppe Banat, for instance – were written with an intent of political and cultural change in a more lenient political climate. These texts give answers to the era's cultural, literary, and political questions; hence, the question is how these poems can be read, ineterpreted, and analyzed today. The action offers a possible answer to this question- and production-oriented procedures which may be applied to these texts even in schools to make their interpretation accessible again.
