Since the research is qualitative in nature, interviews and observation were conducted as the primary tools for this study to gather the data. Concerning the semi-structured interviews, the interviews were recorded on the researcher's mobile phone. As for the observation, the checklist was filled, and the researcher wrote notes in English. After listening to each interview several times, the next stage was the data transcription. Mackey and Gass (2005) emphasized that only the significant incidents and exceptions would be transcribed so the researcher can go back to them later. In other words, the researcher omitted irrelevant ideas and issues that did not help answer the research questions. The next step was coding the data manually. Different codes were assigned to the participants' needs, the practice of EMP, suggestions and other codes such as “misconception of EMP”, “academic needs”, “professional needs”, and “awareness of EMP”. Codes “are tags or labels for assigning units of meaning to the descriptive or inferential information compiled during a study” (Miles and Huberman 1994: 56). Translating the principal codes into English was performed by the researcher. The same method of coding was followed concerning the observation notes. The next step was to analyse and relate the observation notes and checklist with the codes from the interviews. Then these codes were gathered and grouped under themes and sub-themes in the “thematization analysis” that would directly answer the research questions. Each theme was developed and supported by different quotes from the interviews and the comments in the observation notes.
