4.2. Reading habits in Group A and B

This section focuses on the reading habits of Group A and B. As depicted in Table 7, both groups exhibit regular or frequent reading of print books, but Group A (70%) demonstrates a significantly higher percentage compared to Group B (52.5%). Conversely, Group B shows a higher frequency of reading print newspapers (7.5%) and magazines (10%). The participants in Group A frequently engage in reading print comic books (10%).

With regard to electronic media (Table 8), Group B reads electronic newspapers (27.5%) and magazines (15%) while Group A reads electronic books (10%) more regularly. Moreover, Group A regularly (3.3%) or often (6.7%) looks through digital comics while Group B sometimes does (27.5%).

According to Table 9, Group A (76.7%) demonstrates a higher frequency of browsing social media compared to Group B (57.5%). In terms of specific social media activities, Group A regularly watches videos and keeps in touch (66.7%), views pictures (63.3%), and reads texts (60%). On the other hand, Group B uses social media for keeping in touch (50%), watching videos (40%), reading texts (37.5%), and viewing pictures (35%), listed in descending order of percentage prevalence.

In sum, Group A reads print and electronic books and comics more frequently than Group B does. Group B spends time on print and electronic newspapers and magazines more regularly. While Group A uses social media more regularly to watch videos and keep in touch, read pictures and texts, Group B uses social media to keep in touch, watch videos, read texts and pictures, in descending order.
