Second, an overview is given of shifts of cohesion in translated and interpreted target language texts. Third, the methodology of the present investigation is detailed. Next, the results are presented, related to the proportion of cohesive devices kept from the source language texts, the total number of cohesive devices in the target language texts, comparisons with the use of cohesive devices in the spontaneous speech of the interpreter trainees, and an analysis of the use of specific cohesive devices, namely demonstrative references and connectives. In addition, some examples are provided. Chapter eleven closes with a discussion and the summary of the results.
