Anxiety, Coping, and Flow

Empirical studies in interactional perspective

Introduction

The appraisal of the environment and particularly of the specific situations in which individuals live has become a current topic of central interest in the area of personality during the last decades (see e.g., Magnusson, 1980a). One reason for this interest is the assumed role played by perception and interpretation of the outer world for individual human functioning. Empirically, the interest in individual’s perceptions of situations and their role for individuals’ reactions and actions is reflected in research in the area of stress and anxiety.
