Anxiety, Coping, and Flow

Empirical studies in interactional perspective

Perception of Threatening Consequences of Anxiety-Provoking Situations

Analysis of the part of the environment which we encounter directly – the situation – is essential if we are to understand and explain human behavior, both in a developmental and in a contemporaneous perspective (Bronfenbrenner, 1979; Magnusson, 1981a; Mischel, 1973; Rotter, 1955). Situations present the information to which we react and offer the feedback we need in order to build valid conceptions of the outer world as a basis for valid predictions about what will happen and the effect of our own actions.
