Study 1

Study 1 was conducted in order to screen broadly those aversive consequences that people expect to emanate from confrontation with threatening situations, and to develop a classification scheme of these consequences. With the aim of determining how subjects appraise external threats, verbal self-descriptions of threatening situations were used.
