Anxiety, Coping, and Flow

Empirical studies in interactional perspective

Discussion

The two different ways of organizing data allow us to study how discrete parts of the environment (situations) influence groups of individuals and also to investigate the relationship between those influencing factors. For example, what are the relationships between how common specific environmental events are and the intensity of anxious reactions they provoke? We can also concentrate on analyses of individuals and thus study individuals’ reactivity, experiences and dispositions (as derived from and measured across a number of representative provocative situations in their milieu) and investigate the relationships between those individual characteristics. These different ways of handling and interpreting data are treated independently and therefore the results of this study will have two separate discussions; one concerning situational properties and one concerning the analysis of individuals.
