In this section, the results of the text analysis are provided. First, the proportion of SL cohesive devices kept in the TL texts is given, followed by the data for the total number of cohesive devices in the TL texts. Next, comparisons are made between the use of cohesive devices in the TL texts and the spontaneous speech production of the students. This is followed by a detailed analysis of the use of two specific cohesive devices, namely demonstrative reference and connectives.
